Q - Do I really own the land? A - Yes, of course, as a Titleholder you have your own specifically numbered plot and your name will be recorded in the Register of Titleholders. As you'd expect, there are certain terms and conditions, such as not being able to develop it or farm it, but these are fully explained in the comprehensive legal document that you'll receive with your Hibernia Heritage Land Title Deed. Q - Can I get access to the land? A - Yes, there's a special path for Titleholders so you can enjoy both the land and the view. Just contact us first and let us know when you're planning to visit so we can let you have a map with full directions to guide you through the wonderful maze of roads that make up rural Ireland. Q - Will the land be developed? A - There are absolutely no plans for development. Wexford County Council has desginated the site as having listed views, which means no development will be allowed and the stunning view across the entrance to Waterford harbor that has been enjoyed for hundreds of years will remain uninterupted for future generations. | |
Q - How big is a square link? A - In the 17th century Edward Gunter, an English mathematician, introduced the surveyors chain consisting of 100 links and this remained the standard measuring instrument for over 150 years. A chain measured sixty-six feet, making a link a whisker under eight inches and a square link, sixty-three square inches. As this is souvenir land, the actual size of the plot is of less importance than the location but we believe that a square link sounds a lot more interesting, and has a lot more character, than a square foot or a square inch. We hope you agree.
Q - What can I do with my land? A - Clearly, such plots are not designed for development or husbandry. These are souvenir plots and the real attraction lies in the emotional satisfaction of actually owning a small piece of the Old Country. You can come to visit it, you can display your Deed at home or in the office, you can (and I know you will) be proud to own a little piece of the Emerald Isle, but most important of all, in the best traditions of Ireland, you can talk about it 'til the cows come home! You can take our word for it; your Title Deed will be a talking point for years to come - especially now that you'll be able to tell everyone what a square link is! Q - What is Hibernia Heritage? A - Hibernia is the old Roman name for Ireland, and Hibernia Heritage was set up by Breandán de Paor to enable you to own your own piece of Ireland without all the fuss and bother - and huge expense - usually associated with land ownership. Ireland holds a very special place in the heart of millions of people around the world separated from their homeland, or their ancestors' homeland, by various seas and oceans. Now, thanks to Hibernia Heritage, wherever you are, you can bring a piece of old Éireann into your own home or office. 'If you can't come to Ireland, then Ireland will come to you.' (Yes, we know that's not the original wording, but it is true!) Q - What is 'Hibernia Notes'? A - It's our newsletter, but it won't just be news - there'll be all kinds of interesting and informative information in there. From time to time we'll bring you exclusive Irish recipes from a leading chef, stories from the area, perhaps the odd Irish proverb or blessing, and whatever else we find that we feel will be of real interest to you. Sometimes it will be short and sometimes a bit longer, but it will always be worth reading and we'll send it to you every month so you can stay in touch with Ireland and the Hook throughout the year. If you'd like to tell us how you feel about your Title Deed or, if you bought it as a gift, what the recipient thought of it, perhaps we could mention that in Hibernia Notes. Click here for your free copy - and have an Irish song book with 111 songs, with our compliments. Q - What is the delivery time? A - This is probably best explained by telling you what happens when we receive your order, so please have a look at the next question. Q - What happens when I place my order? A - Your credit card will be processed using a secure server for your security; we understand the importance of your privacy and will NEVER pass your details to a third party. To make sure there are no errors, we will send you an e-mail confirming the details of the name to be inscribed on the Title Deed and entered in the Register of Titleholders. Twenty-four hours later we will instruct our calligrapher to inscribe your name on the Deed using Uncial, the lettering of St Patrick, and this will be sent to you by Royal Mail. The total time for this is usually between ten and fifteen days so if you order today, you should have it in a couple of weeks. Don't forget to put HiberniaHeritage.com and PerfectIrishGift.com on your friends list so we don't get rejected by your server as Spam. Q - Do I have to be of Irish descent? A - No, not at all, you're very welcome just because you're you. The Diaspora spread the Irish people all over the world and we received a welcome everywhere we went so now it's a pleasure to return the compliment and welcome you with open arms. Included in the emigration from the area around the Hook to the USA were the ancestors of three Presidents - John F Kennedy, George Bush Senior and George W Bush. | Q - What if I'm not happy with my Title Deed? A - We'll be very disapointed, of course, because we know what a great place the Hook is and we really would love you to share it. There's nothing for you to worry about, however; if, for any reason at all, you're not happy with your Title Deed, just return it to us with one year and we'll refund your money without a question. |
Q - Can I own more than one plot? A - You can, of course. Indeed, you can have as many as you like (until they're all gone), but why not share the pleasure and buy one for someone else in the family, or for a friend or colleague, and let them feel as good as you about being a landowner in the Emerald Isle. Just click here to order a plot.Q - Can I visit the Hook on vacation? A - You most certainly can, and we sincerely hope that someday you will, so you can enjoy the legendary Céad Míle Fáilte. We'd love you to experience the rugged beauty of this very special part of Ireland, and, of course, it'll be just like coming home to your own piece of the ould sod. Q - Can I visit Loftus Hall? A - The Hall is currently a private residence and the owner enjoys her privacy so, for now, we can only enjoy its splendour from the roadside. Pull over, stop the car, have a look and maybe even take a photo or two. But avoid stopping in the moonlight if you can - after all, it is Ireland's most haunted house! Q - What's the Craic? A - It's pronounced like 'crack' and is an Irish Gaelic word for fun and enjoyment, and much more. You'll hear it used around Ireland in all sorts of circumstances, like, 'Sure isn't he great Craic when he has a few pints in him', 'How's the Craic?' or 'The Craic was mighty'. Well, the Craic around the Hook really is mighty - there's plenty to do, so long as you want to do it, and there's even more not to do when you don't feel like doing it! If you can make sense of that, that's wonderful, but if you can't, you can always call in to Templar's, or Neville's, or Nolan's, or one of the other pubs to think it over with a pint of the black stuff; it's great Craic!
